"One of our residents keeps saying she has to earn her keep. She very much wants to-actually she needs to do something. Now we have her folding laundry and she is happy to be doing it. Another resident really can't help much because of physical limitations, but she can talk so she directs us and tells us what to do.
We have the opposite too. One of our residents told me she had worked her entire life. 'This is a rest home,' she said, 'and I've come here to rest!'"
